July 31 1922 - Notable Passengers
The EMPRESS OF ASIA, commanded by L. D. Douglas, concluded a Pacific crossing upon reaching Vancouver on July 31st, 1922.
The ship accomplished a fast crossing of
the Pacific Ocean requiring only 9 days and 3 hours to cover the distance from
Yokohama to the Quarantine Station at Vancouver Island.
The Passenger list included 150 Saloon Class and 100 Cabin Class and a large number of Steerage passengers.
W. G. King, a moving picture operator,
was a passenger on this voyage returning to Montreal from Japan.
He had visited Japan to obtain material for films that were to be shown
on the Canadian Pacific passenger ships. The
films were to be released through the Associated Screen news.
