November 10 1924 - Notable Passengers
The EMPRESS OF ASIA concluded a Pacific crossing upon reaching Vancouver on November 10th, 1924.
The ship left Yokohama on November 1st and soon encountered severe weather that last through much of the crossing. At one point storm conditions were so bad that the ship was forced to heave to for 5 hours.
Due to the bad weather the arrival at Victoria was 12 hours behind schedule.
A cargo of approximately 3,500 tons was reported. Included were 4,750 bales of raw silk valued at nearly $7,000,000.00.
Forty bags of mail and a small consignment of cargo were discharged at Victoria. Most of this mail was transshipped to Seattle.
